The Department of Civil Engineering was established with the inception of the institute in the year 1960. This department is having well-equipped laboratories viz Fluid Mechanics Lab.,, Concrete Lab., Transportation Engg. Lab., Environmental Engg. Lab., Surveying Lab., Geology Lab., Strength of Materials Lab., Structural Engg. Lab., Geotech Engg. & Rock Mech. Lab., and Engineering Mechanics Lab. Also the department has got a well-established Computer centre with good computing facilities (hardware as well as software) available. The Civil Engineering department is running one undergraduate and two post graduate courses with an intake of 60 students at U.G. and 18 students for each P.G. course.
The B.E. (Civil) programme has been accredited by National Board of Accreditation AICTE New Delhi in the year 2002, year 2012, year 2021 and from the AY 2024-25 to 2026-27 i.e. upto 30/06/2027.
The Civil Engg. Department is also actively engaged in the consultancy work in the field of Structural Environmental Engineering. The department is also having a Building Centre in its premises which is funded by HUDCO, New Delhi. In addition to all required laboratories, deptt. is having five Center of Excellences.
